The best way to experience a new city is to eat your way through it, especially in the company of a savvy local who cannot wait to show you all the hidden gems. This gastronomical walk commences in the heart of Trastevere, a charming neighborhood that has become famous as a culinary Mecca for foodies from all over the world. Your passionate guide will meet you in Piazza Trilussa and jumpstart the day with a quintessential Italian breakfast at a nearby ‘caffe’. The buttery, flakey ‘cornetti’ and freshly brewed coffee will have you ready for new adventures in no time.

Your charming guide will then lead the way for you through narrow alleyways and gorgeous piazzas while providing you with an insider’s view on the culture and history that defines the Eternal City. At Piazza Cosimato, you will have to chance to mingle with the locals at the bustling fresh produce food market. Soak up the lively atmosphere while sampling a selection of traditional Roman cheeses paired with jams, buffalo mozzarella and a variety of prosciutto.

As the culinary journey continues, you will visit several family-run venues to enjoy specialties very few tourists have the opportunity to experience. Some of the mouth-watering pit-stops include a Pecorino Romano cheese tasting at locally loved specialty shop, a bite of typical Roman street food in form of a delicious ‘supplì’, freshly made pastries, ‘granita’, a special digestive liqueur and – of course - a slice of pizza with local beer at an ‘antica forno’.

The second part of the tour takes part in Rome’s Historic Center on the opposite side of the river Tiber. After visiting the famous Campo dei Fiori market, you will get to sit down and enjoy a traditional Roman meal at an award-winning slow-food hosteria. A variety of traditional Roman pastas dishes will be brought to your table along with exquisite wine and prosecco. Naturally, we have saved the best for last and will end the tour to visit at our very favorite artisan ‘gelateria’. Buon appetito!
