See Roseau’s city attractions and then relax on a beautiful Dominica beach on this 3.5-hour sightseeing tour. With a local guide, take a tour of central Roseau, admiring its historical French Colonial buildings and visiting the Botanic Gardens. Then stop by Morne Bruce for a photo op of the expansive views of the city, port and Caribbean Sea before hitting popular Mero Beach for a couple of hours of relaxation in the sun. Beach chair and umbrella rental and a tropical beverage are included. Meet your guide and tour group at the designated pickup point at the Roseau bay front and board your air-conditioned bus to begin your Roseau city tour.

For about 30 minutes, tour the city with your local guide, checking out its main sights. The capital and largest city of Dominica, Roseau boasts lovely French Colonial architecture, particularly along King George V Street. Pass by the Gothic-style catholic cathedral and St George’s Anglican Church, and then head to the Dominica Botanic Gardens.

Spread across 40 acres (16 hectares) of land in Roseau, the Botanic Gardens feature a variety of Caribbean and international vegetation, from banyan trees to orchids to African tulips. See rare parrots in the aviary, and visit the unusual memorial to Hurricane David — an old school bus squashed under a tree.

From here, drive up to Morne Bruce, a lookout point that offers panoramic views of Roseau, the port and the coastline. Then continue north to Mero Beach, traveling up the west coast of the island, through fishing villages and across the Layou River.

When you arrive at the black-sand beach (most of Dominica’s beaches have black or gray sand due to the volcanic origins of the island), grab a beach chair and umbrella (rental price included). Sip on a glass of rum punch or tropical juice, go for a swim, work on your tan — the two hours here are yours to spend however you wish.

If you get hungry or thirsty, snacks and additional drinks are available for purchase at your own expense. Your tour ends with the 30-minute drive back to the Roseau port.
