A fun and interesting way to see and learn about Colorado, your guide will take you across the country's highest suspension bridge, to the heights of Fremont Peak and more. This breathtaking tour literally puts you on the edge of one of Colorado’s most picturesque attractions. Look down into the breathtaking Royal Gorge as this tour takes you over America’s highest suspension bridge. This trip climbs more than 1,500 vertical feet out of historic Cañon City to the south rim of the world famous Royal Gorge. After admiring the depths of the Gorge as we cross the 18 foot wide, 1,260 foot long bridge almost a thousand feet above the Arkansas River, we will climb another 500 feet to the awe-inspiring views seen from Fremont Peak. From this high point, you will be able to see everything from Pike’s Peak to the Sangre de Cristo Mountains to the Eastern Plains of Colorado. Very few people have been determined enough to hike to this view much less have the option to be driven to it.This adventure includes everything in the half day trip, lunch and a 4×4 climb to “Overlook Arch.” Your afternoon tour will wind its way through the bright red rock of the Fountain Formation which is the same red rock formation that made the Garden of the Gods and Red Rocks Amphitheater famous. This tour will also travel pass the Marsh and Cleveland Quarry sites to see where thousands of dinosaur bones have been excavated over the last 140 years. Your jeep will pass by Indian petroglyphs and the site of Colorado’s first oil well on its way back to the base.
