Formed over millions of years as the Arkansas River cut into the rising granite of the Colorado Plateau, the steep canyon is more than 1,200ft deep and, in some locations, less than 50 ft. wide. The broken, mountainous landscape makes it an ideal location for adventure seekers looking for new ways to challenge themselves in the glorious outdoors.
Your Zipline/Whitewater rafting combo trip starts with your selection of a morning or afternoon trip. Specific times are assigned in the order you sign up with morning rafting trips starting every half hour between 8:00am and 9:30am, and afternoon trips beginning between 1:30pm and 3:00pm. After receiving your start time, you will meet your guide at the launch site at the Royal Gorge where you will receive your lifejacket, helmet, and paddle and go through a brief orientation to ensure you remain safe throughout your trip. With a minimum of at least four years and an average of around ten years on the river, your guide will help you navigate every bend of the wild river - a fact you will appreciate on class IV and V rapids you will encounter.
After completing your run on the river, it's time for refreshments before continuing the adventure. You will stop for lunch and snacks at the Whitewater Bar and Grill where you can grab a salad or a burger a glass of wine and enjoy the afternoon. Although you may start feeling relaxed, the fun isn't quite over. The second half of your tour comes next! After refreshments, you will head to the Zipline course where you will have your choice of 9 different lines stretching over a mile in length. You will receive a brief safety training and overview from a guide and then climb out on the course to experience the fun for yourself.
