This day trip from Bordeaux takes you to the UNESCO World Heritage-listed wine region of St-Emilion for a full day of wine tasting. Enjoy a buffet lunch with your fellow wine lovers, and end with a guided tour and free time in the village of St-Emilion.Head to the the Bordeaux Tourist Office in the morning for your full-day wine tour. Relax aboard the air-conditioned coach as you travel to St-Emilion. On your way there, your guide will give you an overview of Bordeaux and its many wineries and vineyards.
Arrive in the St-Emilion AOC (Appellation d'origine contrôlée), a beautiful UNESCO World Heritage-listed wine region. One of the principal red wine areas of the Bordeaux wine region, St-Emilion is known for its blended grape varieties, particularly merlot, cabernet franc and cabernet sauvignon.
Your first stop is a classified growth château — Château Figeac, Château Beau-Sejour Becot or Château Canon — where you’ll take a tour of the cellar to learn about the winemaking process and enjoy a tasting of the château’s finest wines.
Next, head to Château Haute-Sarpe. Admire a beautiful view of the vineyards, visit the wine cellar, and taste the estate's elite Grand Cru wines before sitting down to a lovely buffet lunch.
You’ll spend the afternoon exploring the village of St-Emilion itself, which dates back to the 8th century and is full of fascinating medieval history. Your guide will take you to the remarkable underground monuments and then give you free time to discover the town’s wine shops, cafés and boutiques on your own.
Return to Bordeaux around 5:30pm.
