Aboard the Saratoga and North Creek Railway, you'll be whisked past the scenic fall foliage of the Adirondack Mountains during the autumn months. This heritage railroad features large picture windows for you to watch the upper Hudson River rush by and makes seven stops, giving you the chance to visit quaint historical towns or explore the great outdoors among Adirondack Park's 6 million acres (2 million hectares).
Several ticket options make it easy for you to plan your own fall getaway in upstate New York: Choose either a one-way or round-trip ticket; select a seat in either coach class or a vintage dome car; and take a day trip or spend the night somewhere. Day trippers can book a 2-hour ticket one way from either station (Saratoga Springs or North Creek), or select a 4-hour round-trip ticket. If you depart from Saratoga, you'll have the chance to explore the North Creek area during a 3-hour layover in the afternoon. Take the complimentary shuttle at the North Creek Train Station that takes you to local attractions such as Gore Mountain, where a 30-minute gondola ride provides stunning views of the Adirondacks and access to a self-guided interpretive hike.
If you depart from Saratoga, you'll have the chance to explore the North Creek area during a 3-hour layover in the afternoon. Take the complimentary shuttle at the North Creek Train Station that takes you to local attractions such as Gore Mountain, where a 30-minute gondola ride provides stunning views of the Adirondacks and access to a self-guided interpretive hike.
Alternatively, start in North Creek and arrive in Saratoga in time for dinner, spending the night before the return trip the next morning. Take advantage of the Saratoga Casino and Raceway, Saratoga Spa State Park, Saratoga Performing Arts Center and more.
