Not only the Douro and Alentejo regions hide secrets. Lisbon region, formerly known as Estremadura, has a huge tradition in national viticulture with a predominance of white and red, rosés and sparkling wines and unique spirits as well, only possible due to the diversity of concentrated reliefs and micro climates in small areas of the region. The regions with the highest wine tradition have their wines classified with the acronym DOC, which stands for Controlled Denomination of Origin: in the Lisbon region there are 18 DOC and the larger, Encostas d'Aire has great wines with beautiful colors, bodies and intensity. In this area we will perform one of the tastings of the day and have lunch as well, a nice traditional meal.
After this stop we will continue south, towards the region of the Setúbal peninsula, surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean and the Arrábida Mountain. Prove some high quality wines where the most used grape varieties are Castelão, Alfrocheiro, Fernão Pires and Trincadeira beside the internationally award-winning muscat Moscatel de Setúbal!
On the way back, just sit back and enjoy the sunset from the Ponte 25 de Abril.
