Make the most of your time on this half-day "Highlights" small group (up to 12 people), personal tour. You will see and learn about Dunedin and the Otago Peninsula with your guide being able to take you places the coach tours cannot reach. You will also have the option to take in some additional sights.

Upon meeting your guide at the cruise terminal, you will begin your small and intimate tour through one of the most historic cities of New Zealand - Dunedin.

Departing Port Chalmers, you will follow the harbourside road into the city for the first stop at the iconic Railway Station. Time to look around this architectural gem of a building and perhaps watch the Taieri Gorge train depart on one of the world's most famous train trips.

Then it’s just a short drive to New Zealand's oldest university - Otago University, where in term time the area will be busy with students as they make their way to lectures. The next stop is The Octagon which is in the heart of Dunedin and here you will have time for photos and a quick coffee stop if you like.

Leaving the city centre, you will head out to the Otago Peninsula, taking the High Road where you will have stunning views over the Dunedin Harbour and city far below. You can leave the group here to visit New Zealand's only castle - Larnach Castle, where you can take a tour of the castle and grounds and enjoy lunch at the Ballroom cafe (additional costs apply).

If you are staying on board then the drive continues to the very tip of the Peninsula at Tairoa Head, location for the Royal Albatross Visitor Centre, where you can learn about these amazing birds and perhaps see them circling overhead on the air currents (tours at your own cost) or enjoy a light lunch and coffee at their wonderful cafe (at your own cost).

Following lunch, return to Dunedin along the Harbour road as it winds its way around the many bays, keeping an eye out for the wildlife that is common in this area.

Reaching the city, this is where you can add visits to Olveston House which is a real time warp of grand 1800's living or Cadbury World for a chocoholics delight (both tours last 60 minutes and additional costs apply). If these are not of interest, continue to the last stop of the day - Baldwin Street, reputedly the world’s steepest. Feeling fit? See how far up you can walk!  Your tour ends when you are taken back to the Cruise Terminal.

Please note that the order of the tour may vary depending on the weather conditions, ships arrival times and traffic issues.
