Discover Rome’s most beautiful park Villa Borghese, before walking to Pincian Hill and finally descending the famous Spanish StepsThe tour starts at the Borghese Gallery. Housed in the gorgeous Villa Borghese, one of the most beautiful parks of Rome, the Borghese Gallery is divided in two sections: the ground-floor, with its superb sculptures and the upper floor Gallery with the paintings collection. The art Gallery, renowned for centuries as “the sovereign of all private art collections”, houses masterpieces that the Borghese's (Pope Paul V belonged to that family) have amassed in their tasteful summer residence since 1600. Bernini
as a sculptor, Raphael, Caravaggio, Titian, Domenichino, Correggio, Rubens are just some of the highlights of an incredible wealth of art the latter epitomized by Canova’s famous nude of Napoleon’s sister, Paolina Bonaparte Borghese. After the visit of the Gallery, the tour continue with a pleasant stroll through the delightful Borghese Park. The area of the Park started as a vineyard until, in 1605, Cardinal Scipione Borghese, nephew of Pope Paul V, turned it into a park. In 1903 the city of Rome obtained Villa Borghese from the Borghese family and opened the park to the public. Stop at the Pincio terrace with its breath-taking view of the city.
Walking through the panoramic Pincio promenade we will then reach Trinità dei
Monti. From the top we will descend the legendary stairs of the Spanish Steps to admire the Fontana della Barcaccia, made by Pietro Bernini.
