Jump-start your day with a 4-hour kayaking adventure in Halifax! Enjoy an invigorating morning paddle, followed by a delicious rooftop breakfast at Seaport Market, which overlooks the Halifax harbourfront and Georges Island.Begin your Halifax tour at the visitor information centre. From there, walk along the boardwalk and get ready for your morning kayaking adventure. You’ll start with a meet-and-greet to get to know the people sharing the experience with you.

Your guide will provide you with all your equipment and safety gear, as well as an introductory lesson so you can paddle like a pro. No previous experience is required, so don’t stress if it’s your first time in a kayak.

Once you head out onto the water, you’ll get some paddling practice in a sheltered cove. Then take off on the kayak tour and let the fun begin!

With the rising sun, you'll watch a sleeping city awaken as you paddle the length of the entire boardwalk — from Pier 21 to the dockyards that are the home of the Canadian East Coast Navy.

Explore the Halifax harbourfront in stable ocean kayaks and get up close and personal with this maritime city at sea level, where you may encounter marine life, from starfish to seals to Navy Seals.

Along the route, you’ll also see stalactites as you paddle under piers, sailboats and marinas, warships from the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, art installations, the Canadian Navy Fleet, and sites such as Casino Nova Scotia and Purdy’s Wharf.

You'll circumnavigate and get as close as possible to Georges Island, a Canadian National Historic site that houses a fort and lighthouse, which are off-limits to the public. Learn about the island prison and mass deportations, as your guide shares tales of pirates, buccaneers, rum runners during prohibition, public hangings, and more.

Once you return from your kayak experience, relax with a short walk to the Seaport Market, where you’ll enjoy a delicious, well-earned rooftop breakfast overlooking the harbour and city skyline. The market itself is in an award-winning eco-friendly building and offers East Coast energy and music. Wander the market and meet with local farmers and artisans before ending the tour.
