Begin your 2-hour walking tour in front of the Pantheon, one the most iconic attractions in the world and a definite must-see while in Rome. Marvel at the spectacular architecture and stature of this beautifully preserved Roman building as you learn about its fascinating history from your guide, an expert in ancient Roman history and archaeology.

Originally constructed to honor the gods of ancient Rome, the Pantheon was rebuilt by Emperor Hadrian in 126 AD (can you even think back that far?), and has been in continuous use since the 7th century as a Roman Catholic church. Walk among the large granite Corinthian columns that line the entrance, and step inside to appreciate the grandeur. Nearly 2,000 years after its construction, the Pantheon's unreinforced dome remains the largest in the world!

Continue on foot to Piazza di Pietra, pausing to admire the remains and still-standing Corinthian columns of the Temple of Hadrian. Another one of Rome's most impressive sites, this temple was built by Hadrian’s adopted son in 145 AD.

Proceed to Santa Maria in Via Lata, a fine example of Roman religious architecture. Beneath this present-day church lay the remains of a 5th-century chapel. Legend has it that St Paul spent two years here while awaiting his trial. Enter the underground crypt and visit an ancient Roman well where it’s claimed fresh water ran in answer to the saint's prayers during his imprisonment.

Bid adieu to your guide at the church, the perfect spot to continue exploring down Via del Corso.
