Numbers are limited to 12 for a more personalized experience.Meet your guide at Copenhagen Central Station for your 3-hour tour. Learn about the history of the trendy neighborhood of Vesterbro and how it was once one of Copenhagen’s most risqué districts.

Stroll into the heart of the district as your guide regales you with tales about its racy past. Discover how, during the 1960s, it became the world’s best-known red-light district due to the wave of liberalism that swept through Denmark at the time, making it the first country to legalize pornography.

View some of the few remaining shops that attest to this gritty legacy and see how gentrification has transformed the area. Although Vesterbro is still known for prostitution, funky restaurants and art galleries have now largely replaced the shady drug and drinking dens of old.

Having worked up a thirst, go inside one of the few bars that hasn’t yet been totally overrun by newcomers, and sip on a delicious Danish craft beer.

Then, make your way along Istedgade, one of Vesterbro’s main thoroughfares. Pass its graffiti and design shops as your guide tells you about its working-class roots and ongoing evolution. Visit a cafe-bar inspired by Denmark’s classic bodegas and sample another beer from one of Denmark's best independent breweries as you hear stories about the bar and its colorful past.

After delving into the backstreets for a flavor of life in this now up-and-coming area, swing by Sønder Boulevard and stop to taste another refreshing beer.

Continue to Kødbyen, Copenhagen’s trendy former meatpacking district. Pass the butcher shops that still characterize the area and note how the surrounding warehouses and industrial spaces are now being commandeered by fashionable restaurants and bars.

End with another beer tasting at one of the city's newest and hippest restaurant-bars, and then bid your guide goodbye. Make your own way back to your hotel or, if you want to stay on in the area, pick your guide's brains as to good places for dinner or drinks.
