Snowmobile Safari and Reindeer Herding in the Mountains in Tromso

Sightseeing  :  Norway  :  Troms  :  Tromsø  :  Ski & Snow
  • Snowmobile Safari and Reindeer Herding in the Mountains in Tromso

Tromsø, Norway

Trip Type:   Ski & Snow
Duration:  4 - 6 hours

You will be picked up in the city centre and can enjoy a scenic drive out to find the reindeer at their winter pastures, some 25 minutes’ driving time away. You will then be seated on a sledge behind a snowmobile and will go through spectacular mountain landscape to find the reindeer. The Reindeer are completely wild so depending on weather conditions they can be difficult to find, but with the reindeer herders expertise it is very likely.

If you find the herd, you will be able to participate in the feeding and tending of the animals but if after a couple of hours snowmobiling then no herd can be found you will return back to the Sami camp where you will be served a hot, Sami lunch and coffee. A vegetarian option is available. At the camp there are a number of reindeer who have been kept in a large fenced area so we can guarantee that even if we don't see them in the mountains you will get to see and feed reindeer.
