Experience Iceland’s spectacular south coast from the air and land on an action-packed full-day tour from Reykjavik. Travel along the southern shores to see four of Iceland’s natural wonders: Sólheimajökull glacier, the storybook waterfalls at Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss, and Reynisfjara black sand beach, with its basalt rock columns. Later, enjoy the scenery from high in the sky on a tandem paragliding experience. As you fly with an expert pilot, ogle aerial views of the mountains, beaches and icy plateaus of Sólheimajökull.Start your experience with a pickup from your central Reykjavik hotel. Meet your guide, board your comfortable vehicle, and hear about Iceland’s volcanic geology and natural history as you travel to the south coast.

Bring your own food for lunch or, if need be, your guide will arrange a quick stop so you can buy snacks (own expense). Your first stop is Skógafoss, one of Iceland’s largest waterfalls. Take in the roaring falls and then pass more of Iceland's captivating scenery on your way to the centuries-old Sólheimajökull Glacier. Admire sights of the ice clinging to the mountainous slopes of Mýrdalsjökul, and then meet your instructor for your paragliding session.
After a safety briefing, walk to the take-off site with your tandem pilot who will control your glider during your flight. Put on your helmet and glider harness, and then take off from the hillside. As you float on the breeze, take in bird’s-eye views of the volcanic beaches, jagged mountains and shimmering Sólheimajökull spread below.
After 10 to 15 minutes (depending on weather conditions) in the air, descend gently back to land and travel onward to the black sand beach at Reynisfjara to see its famous basalt rock columns. Hear the mysterious legends that surround the striking rock formations, and then continue to Seljalandsfoss, arguably the most beautiful of Iceland’s waterfalls.
If you wish, stroll along the path behind the cascade, and capture close-up photos of the thundering waters, just a few feet away.
Finally, relax on your drive back to Reykjavik, and finish with an evening hotel drop-off.
Please note: the duration of the paragliding flight depends on weather conditions and specific flight times cannot be guaranteed.
