Explore both the Dutch and French sides of St Maarten on this 4-hour bike tour! You’ll pass through the town of Philipsburg and over “the hill” enjoying magnificent views of town and the neighboring islands. With several stops along the way for photos and historical information from your guide you'll really get to experience this beautiful island. This 17km (10 mile) cultural ride begins in Philipsburg (by the cruise harbor) and heads towards Marigot. You’ll pass through the town of Philipsburg and over “the hill” enjoying magnificent views over town and the neighboring islands. There is a short stop at the Border Monument, separating the Dutch Side from the French side, where you can earn bragging rights that you cycled through 2 countries in one day!! Your guide will explain about the Concordia Treaty which was signed in the 1600′s and serves to this day as an amicable agreement between the French and Dutch Side of St. Maarten.

Continue riding along to Marigot, the French Capital, where you will explore the local market, savoring the sights, smells and sounds of a traditional Caribbean market.

Then it’s a short climb to the historic Fort Louis, once a strategic fortress protecting the bay of Marigot. Today, it lazily watches over the capital, offering magnificent views of the town, the bay and the British neighboring island of Anguilla. If time allows, and the whole group is up for it, a short side trip can be made to the famous Maho Beach (airport beach) to see the airplanes landing and taking off. You then pass through Simpson Bay where you have the option of ending your tour to avoid the hilly trip back to Philipsburg (we will help you get a taxi of local bus at your expense) on your way back to Philipsburg.

This is a very small group tour allowing us to customize each tour on the day of based on ability, fitness and interests. No two Cross the Border bike tours are the same.
