Paddleboarding, also called paddle surfing, is quickly becoming one of the most popular water activities; it’s a great way to get on the water while enjoying incredible views of the Tortola coastline.

This activity is suitable for almost everyone – all you need is basic swimming skills. Whenever you get tired, you can sit or even lie down on your board. From a standing or kneeling position on an SUP, you’re able to sneak up on stingrays and sea turtles without disturbing them. Marvel at the movement of baby barracudas, pup sharks and a huge array of other sea life that use these inshore waters and mangroves as nurseries.

Start your paddleboard adventure in Cane Garden Bay. You’ll spend three hours gliding through the clear blue waters of the British Virgin Islands with your instructor, who will adapt your experience according to skill level.

Option 1: Beginner
If it’s your first time paddleboarding and you want to learn the basics, you’ll get a good grasp of stand-up paddling techniques with this introductory lesson. Your certified instructor covers topics like ocean awareness and board handling with a half-hour orientation on land before your 2.5-hour paddling session in the water. Practice how to balance, get up, steer and turn around quickly. Once you’ve got the hang of it, you’re ready to explore the flat waters close to shore!

Option 2: Experienced
If you’ve got prior experience paddleboarding, you’ll find it easy to stand up and paddle around these calm waters on a 3-hour tour. Follow your expert guide on a downwind coastal tour as you explore one bay to another over blue waters. You’ll see a ton of marine life in the stunning reefs, with views of the dramatic sea cliffs of Tortola.

Option 3: Extreme
If you’ve already got stand-up paddleboard experience in flat water and want to try out something more extreme, take a comprehensive 3-hour lesson from your certified instructor in the art of wave riding! Ride an SUP like a surfboard in the breaking waves, perfect for paddling into. Your instructor will focus on water safety, line-up awareness and etiquette in addition to wave-riding skills.
