A half-day rafting trip on the Salmon River near Sun Valley, Idaho will be the highlight of your vacation. This popular whitewater trip with lunch features class II-III whitewater fun, experienced professional guides and a catered meal served beside the river. While in the whitewater state, don’t miss out on this rafting trip! This adventure will make you feel like a true river pioneer but at a level suitable for the whole family.Get checked in at rafting headquarters in Stanley, just 58 swerving-for-scenery miles north of Sun Valley. From there, it's a short jaunt to where you will jump in your boat and dive right in to the ironically named “Piece of Cake” rapid. Between bouts of roiling rapid glory, your guide will fill you in on the wildlife, salmon, local lore, geology and much more. Right before lunch you will run “Warm Springs Narrows” a three-quarter-mile stretch of punchy yet forgiving whitewater that passes singer Carole King’s wilderness ranch.

After this invigorating morning on the river you’ll be starved. Your guides will pull over at a riverside lunch perch where you will encounter the chef putting the final sprigs of parsley on an unforgettable meal. Although the menu changes daily, you will be taken to foodie heaven with your prepared riverside meal.

A typical meal features a main dish like chicken a la king, several vegetarian side-dishes, including homemade salsa and chips, a green salad, freshly baked bread and a homemade dessert. Only the freshest seasonal ingredients are used, and vegetarian and gluten-free options are available as well. Any dietary restrictions can be happily accommodated. Drinks include iced tea, lemonade, hot chocolate, coffee and water.

After filling up, ease your digestion by floating peacefully down to Torrey’s Hole where your sleek bus will be waiting to take you back to rafting headquarters.
