Enjoying a Hawaiian sunrise is a breathtaking way to begin your day. This adventure includes an early morning hike followed by a Southern Island Tour where you will visit Makapu'u Lookout, the infamous Sandy Beach and the Blow Hole. This short uphill hike will be guided by moon or star light, which beautifully reflects of the ocean. At the top, there are pillboxes, which are concrete historical bunkers that look out over the East side of the island. Perched on the ocean's edge, you will have an epic view of the sun breaking the horizon and lighting up the neighborhoods that surround you. Afterwards, you will begin the Southern Island Adventure by taking the ocean-side, route back to Waikiki, along the way enjoying breakfast. Your small group of outdoor enthusiasts is led by an experienced, local, safety-certified guide, who captures the adventure on a GoPro, for your online video of the excursion - included, free of charge!

Your sunrise hike and beach breakfast adventure begins at 4:30am, when you meet your small group at the central meeting point in Waikiki by the International Trade Center (with Starbucks & Jamba Juice) at 2255 Kuhio Ave. You will travel to the start of the hike in Lanikai, about 35 minutes from Waikiki.
Be sure to wear hiking boots or sneakers with good traction and comfortable work-out or hiking clothing, as the trail is off road and steep in areas. You will hike uphill for 30 minutes. We have delicious granola, that is available if you are hungry during the hike. Be sure to bring water and extra snacks with you. While this hike would be categorized as a beginner intermediate hike, completing it in the dark adds an element that hikers should feel comfortable and excited about. You will have an experienced and safety certified guide/s available to support you every step of the way!
Upon reaching the top, you will explore the pillboxes and settle in to enjoy your epic view of the hawaiian sunrise. Watching the sun slowly creep above the horizon on a clear day has a vibrant florescent color, unlike any other time during the day. You will have about 30 minutes to savor the sunrise and views. Afterwards, you will head down, where an ice cold bottle of water is waiting to reward your efforts!
Next, you will head down the longer route back to Waikiki, stopping to explore some beautiful places along the way, including Makapu'u Lookout, Sandy Beach and the Blow Hole. You'll enjoy breakfast along the way, which includes delicious granola, cut-up island fruit and a surprise breakfast treat, such as scone or muffin. If you have dietary limitations or are a vegetarian or vegan, just let us know and we are happy to accommodate you.
You will arrive back to Waikiki at the central meeting point around 10:30am, where you will be returned to the morning meeting location.
