After hotel pickup in Cancun, enjoy the comfortable drive aboard an air-conditioned minivan to Tulum. Upon arrival at the abandoned walled city, perched high on the edge of a cliff, embark on a tour of the well-preserved Mayan ruins with your knowledgeable guide and small group.Option 1: Tulum
As you explore the archeological site, one of the most spectacular along the Yucatan coast, you’ll hear about the fascinating history of the Mayan Empire. Learn how the city, which towers above the deep turquoise waters of the Caribbean, was mainly inhabited by nobles and high priests. Search for the faint remains of red and blue covering the fortress buildings, which were once lavishly decorated with paintings and colorful carvings.
After your 1-hour guided tour you'll have about half an hour more to explore Tulum or the white sandy beach below on your own. If you’d like, take a refreshing dip in the Caribbean Sea before return transport to your hotel.
Option 2: Tulum plus Underground River and lunch
Embark on a 1-hour guided tour of Tulum plus free time to explore the site or its beautiful beach (see description above). Then, enjoy a half-hour drive by air-conditioned minivan to a mystical underground river located in the heart of the jungle.
During the 1.5-hour visit, discover all about the Mayan underworld accompanied by you informative guide. Then, swim in crystal clear waters through caves and tunnels and admire ancient rock formations of this incredible subterranean world.
Afterward, transfer to an excellent restaurant nearby for a delicious beachside lunch.
