The Upsala Glacier, the second largest glacier in Argentina, rises 196 feet (60 meters) over Lake Argentina, located in Los Glaciares National Park. Previously obscured by giant icebergs that break away and float in the lake, the world-famous glacier can be reached via the Upsala Channel.

Upon hotel pickup in El Calafate, you’ll be transferred to Punta Bandera Port, where your expert guides will be waiting. Board the ferry and enjoy a complimentary sweet pastry with hot beverages during your 3-hour boat ride to Lake Argentina. Lunch will be available on board.

Your kayaking adventure starts with a briefing, including use of paddling equipment and safety protocols. Depending on weather conditions and the icebergs, you’ll disembark with your small group on the rocky shore to explore the waters of Upsala Channel and Onelli Bay in your double kayak. After warming up, head out on your guided expedition, paddling for approximately two hours (depending on conditions). Your professional guides will adapt the pace of the tour to the skill level and physical ability of your small group.

En route, guides offer interpretation of the natural landscape, including the national park’s fauna and flora such as condors and wild cows found among the lengas and ñires (deciduous native trees). Surrounded by imposing mountains, coast over the ice-blue glacial waters past a breathtaking display of icebergs in whimsical shapes.

After taking in the scenery amid extraordinary beauty, relax with a complimentary snack during your ferry ride back to Punta Bandera Port, where you will arrive at 7pm and be transferred back to El Calafate.
