One-Day Tour:
Hop on the Expedition Train at the Poroy train station and settle into your seats for a relaxing ride through the lush Urubamba River Valley. The train climbs the mountain along the swift Urubamba River, providing excellent opportunities to take photos of pristine nature, tiny towns and the ancient Inca terraces lining the river. At Aguas Calientes, disembark and feast on an authentic Peruvian lunch during orientation. Then switch to a bus for the short ride to Machu Picchu.
Enter Machu Picchu by the main gate, admiring your first few glimpses of this incredible archaeological site. Get an insider’s view of Machu Picchu as you spend time learning about the place from your exclusive archaeologist guide. Then you will have time to wander the site on your own. In the late afternoon, head back to Aguas Calientes to to the train to Cusco. You’ll be dropped off at your hotel in Cusco.
Two-Day Tour:
Day 1:
Visit the Museum of Pre-Columbian Art in Cusco for a 1.5-hour guided tour to get a better sense of the history and culture of the people who helped build Machu Picchu. Stroll around the museum studying and appreciating the 450 pieces of master works that date from 1250 B.C, to 1532 A.D.
Day 2:
Same as the 1-day tour including hotel pick up and drop off.
