Walking Tour - Lagoa do Fogo

This trail begins on a dirt road that will take you at a forest full of eucalyptus, incense, acacia and ginger lilies, you can also find several species of Thypha a plant original from New Zealand.  Here, you’ll be able to discover the Lagoa do Fogo water trails –levadas – and also some endemic plants as Uva da Serra (Vaccinium cylindraceum), Urze (Erica azorica Hochst), Folhado (Viburnum tinus) and Linguee. On your way to the top you’ll find some place where you can have fantastic views over the south coast of São Miguel Island as well the islet of Vila Franca do Campo. Finally, walking through the water trails – levadas - you’ll meet the Lake Lagoa do Fogo.Departing from Ponta Delgada you'll first head some stunning coastal sights. We´ll start our trail on dirt road that will take you at a forest full of eucalyptus, incense, acacia and ginger lilies. where you’ll be able to discover the Lagoa do Fogo water trails, Finally you'll meet the most great lake of the island - Fogo.
On the way back the trail you'll have as background fantastic views over the south coast of São Miguel Island as well the islet of Vila Franca do Campo very know by the Red Bull Cliff Diving championship. 
You´ll finish your tour with a hot and relaxing bath in the thermal waters of Caldeira Velha.
