This unique white water rafting experience at Pacuare River is not like every other tour to the river. The tour runs on the upper section of Pacuare instead of the lower section making this trip an excellent option for families.

Soak up the natural beauty of the pristine La Cruz section of the Pacuare River while rafting class II-III rapids. This trip begins 8 miles above the regular class III-IV Pacuare section and ends before the first class IV rapid, it’s ideal for families with children 9-14 years old.

Early morning pick-up by your guide at your hotel in San José. There will be no more than one other stop en route to a typical Costa Rican breakfast on the way to the river. Upon arrival at the La Cruz put-in, your river guides will outfit you with your life jacket and helmet. After making sure that everything fits properly and a safety and talk, you will be ready to begin your trip down river.

As you are swept down the Pacuare, soak in the natural beauty of the primary and secondary rainforests surrounding you. Water level permitting, your guide will lead you on a hike up one of the many creeks that spill into the Pacuare. You will have time to play and swim in the river. Your guides will prepare a gourmet riverbank lunch in their outdoor "river restaurant."

Float and paddle downriver to the take-out at Bajo Tigre where a 4x4 pickup truck will be waiting to take you part way up the mountain, 20 minutes on a muddy, bumpy back country road (you ride inside the truck, not in the back). On arrival, towels and a victory cocktail await. You will also find changing rooms and restrooms.

After changing, ride another 30 minutes to the main road where your van and driver will be waiting to take you back to San Jose.
