Wine tasting of Cretan Greek wines, see the sunken city of Sfendili and explore typical Cretan mountain villages.
Minibus tour with a private guide. Departure from Chersonissos around 9.30 am.
First we drive through a green valley passing the Dam in the Aposelemis river, a European Union project. Our first stop is in Sfendili, a village which is vanishing after the Dam does her job in 2015 the village has been flooded! After we visit the mountain village of Avdou where we make a tour through the picturesque centre of the village. On the old houses you can see what was there before (eg Bakery, Boucher, Kafeneion). Our guide will explain you how to make a roundtrip through the village.
We also have the opportunity to drink a coffee in a historical coffee place (Kafeneion).
Through the mountains heading to Aski, Amariano, Lyttos, we have a wonderful view on Kastelli airport. This airport will be transformed in the next years to the 2nd biggest airport of Greece.
We visit a traditional ceramic pottery. The owner will show us the process, than some of us can do it themselves. Next stop, wine tasting!!
We sit down in a vineyard for wine tasting, 6 lovely Cretan Wines. After the wine we have lunch....with a glass of wine.
WINE TASTING INCLUDES
- Experienced multilingual explication speaking: ENGLISH, FRENCH, GERMAN, DUTCH
- 2 white, 1 rose, 2 red and 1 dessert wines with cheese, paximadia (hard Cretan bread), marmelade, season fruit, nuts…
- lunch: souvlaki (chicken or pork), Greek salad, tzatziki, bread and wine
